TO ME, WATCHMAKING IS PERSONAL

Declan James Watch Co. did not start because I simply wanted to sell watches.

It started because I have always loved them.

The mechanics. The design. The small details most people never notice. The way a good watch starts as something you wear, then slowly becomes part of your life.

Watches have always meant something to me, but fatherhood changed what they meant.

My years in the Navy SEAL Teams taught me discipline, precision, sacrifice, and purpose. But becoming a father while still serving taught me something different.

I was gone more than I was home. I missed birthdays, ordinary days, little moments, and pieces of life with my family that I will never get back.

That stays with you.

When my first son was born, I wanted to build something real. Something he could hold someday and understand what mattered to his father and what he was trying to leave behind.

Naming the company after him was not a marketing decision. It was personal.

It was a way to take the time I had lost and turn it into something that could last.

Now, as a father of two sons, that purpose is even clearer.

I do not make watches just to make watches. I make them because I believe a timepiece can carry more than time. It can carry memories, mark seasons, and become the thing your children remember seeing on your wrist before they ever understand why it mattered.

The watch is the medium. Legacy is the message.
